Fees and discounts

We offer a discount on our call-out fees within certain zones on certain days, further detail on this is available above.

We offer a reduction on the call out fee when you are sharing a visit with someone else at your yard.  If we attend two routine calls in your yard then your visit fee will be halved and if we attend three then you will only pay a third.

If we attend your horse in an emergency and you don't have a form of payment to hand, then we will send you an invoice within 48 hours which should be settled within 14 days.  We can accept payment by credit or debit card by telephone (01361 889106).  We have to pay for a number of consumables in order to treat your horse so we place great value on you paying your bill on time.  If you're late in paying your bill we add administration fees to the bill to reflect the time we spend chasing the payment and we may eventually have to stop attending your horse, which is not something we would like to do.  For full details of our payment policies, please refer to our terms and conditions.

If your horse is insured and you anticipate making a claim from the insurance company, we suggest that you contact the insurance company as early as possible in the process to request a claim form.  This way, they are able to reimburse you as your horse's care continues with any bills that you have already settled with the practice.  We would like to remind you that even if you are insured it is, ultimately, your responsibility to settle our bill.

Technology - Tait modern

There are a number of clinical advantages to modern  technology.  In the vast majority of cases there is very little substitute for a thorough clinical examination and where prescription-only drugs are involved this will always need to be carried out. However there are a number of circumstances in which digital photography, mobile phones and the internet can revolutionise the way we interact with you.

By way of example, if your horse sustained a wound while out on a hack, photos sent to your vet's mobile would provide a number of immediate advantages:

1.  the severity of the wound could quickly be assessed which would help in determining the need for, or urgency of, a visit from the vet;
2.  we could provide immediate first aid advice to you at the time;
3.  photographs provide part of a clinical record which is very useful for insurance claims; and
4.  in the convalescence period of long standing wounds clients are often left to change dressings with the vet only attending intermittently. Photos sent after each dressing change might allow for a more rapid change in treatment plan for the wound so that the most appropriate therapy is in place all the time and in some circumstances it may cut down on the number of visits (and cost) required to adequately monitor the wounds progression or alert us as soon as possible when things are not going in the correct direction so they can be resolved.

Technology is improving extremely quickly and in the next few years advancements will, no doubt, further improve the way the vets interact with their clients. Equitait aims to remain ahead of the game in this field without compromising the intimacy and bond of the relationship.

Facebook

We have a page on facebook at Equitait Veterinary Practice.

Referrals

Horses can be referred to whomever we believe is going to give the best possible care to that horse, pony or donkey and its owner. Different centres are renowned for their care of particular types of condition because of their facilities or because of the experience of their staff.

We have extensive contacts in the equine veterinary world  which enables further specialist advice to be available at the end of a phone or e-mail.  It is, of course, essential that a referral centre communicates well with the client and the referring vet.
